The Tom Hessin Magnetic Series Poppy Red Rollerball Pen is inspired by the historic Magnetic Works in Birmingham, where T. Hessin & Co once made pen nibs. Nibs were magnetised there to make them easier to handle, and Bullring market hawkers drew in passers-by by showing the magnetised nibs floating in water and pointing north.
Poppy Red pairs a rich matt red lacquer with elegant matt black trim. Inspired by the vibrant poppy flower, its red and black palette symbolises hope, remembrance and new beginnings. The precision guilloché barrel reinterprets the Hessin legacy diamond, taken from an old stamp found in the family archives, while the discreet magnetic cap close delivers a deeply satisfying click every time you reach for it.
A smooth 0.5mm black rollerball refill gives a lovely laydown of ink on the page, backed by a two-year mechanical warranty.
